China – Schuurmans-case
An international recovery of two children from China to The Netherlands.
I went through a very hard time when my children were abducted. In my specific case it was very hard and not completely without risk to undertake action. I didn’t know what to expect. I knew that any mistake made in the beginning would drastically reduce our chances of getting the children back. Thanks to Mr. Hoogkamer and his colleagues everything went well and it was all over very quickly. The people at the IECC have a very professional way of working and a lot of experience. Mr. Hoogkamer wanted to help me and was prepared to do so. I also felt his compassion and involvement, which created a strong relationship of trust.
The planning and preparation was done very carefully, nothing was left to chance and every possible scenario was considered. I knew that even in the worst possible scenario, they would continue. This is exactly what I heard from other clients as well. My own recovery luckily went very well. Moreover, everything was solved merely by talking and negotiating, Mr. Hoogkamer acted as a mediator. I found this very positive and professional, I was impressed by this. Because of the emotional state I was in, I would not have been able to perform this kind of negotiating myself. The IECC is currently still helping me to prevent a possible second abduction from taking place. I am very much willing to act as a reference for the IECC, for those who are in a similar situation, those who are living through a child abduction at this very moment.
