The International Expertise Center ChildAbduction.COM (IECC) specializes exclusively in cases involving international parental child abduction. This includes child kidnapping, wrongful removal, and illegal retention of children across borders. We work only on behalf of left-behind parents and always act in the best interests of the child.

The IECC operates worldwide in both Hague Convention and non-Hague Convention countries. In non-Hague cases, judicial procedures can be slow or ineffective. Our experience allows us to apply alternative legal, diplomatic, and negotiation-based strategies to increase the chances of a safe recovery.

The IECC does not use illegal or violent methods under any circumstances. All interventions are legal, ethical, and carefully coordinated. Any recovery action is carried out in cooperation with local authorities, police, prosecutors, and/or Interpol where required.

Time is critical. The longer a child remains abroad, the greater the emotional, psychological, and legal challenges become. Early intervention significantly improves the chances of recovery before the child becomes fully settled in a new environment. This is why we strongly advise parents to act immediately.

The IECC places strong emphasis on aftercare. Once a child is returned, both the child and the left-behind parent may need guidance and support. We help ensure stability, assist with follow-up legal steps if needed, and support the reunification process to protect the child’s long-term well-being.

The IECC handles cases of international parental child abduction, where a child under 16 has been wrongfully removed from or retained outside their country of habitual residence in breach of your custody rights. If the other parent has taken your child to another country without your consent (or overstays an agreed visit), you likely qualify. We recommend you contact us immediately for a confidential case assessment.

Time is critical. First, ensure your child's location is as specific as possible. Then, immediately contact local law enforcement to file a police report and obtain a domestic custody order if you don't have one. Concurrently, contact the IECC.

Gather: your child's full details (name, DOB, passport number), the abducting parent's details, suspected destination country, a copy of any custody order or marriage/separation agreement, and all relevant communication (emails, texts) regarding the abduction or travel plans. If you don't have everything, contact us anyway, we will help you identify what's needed.

The IECC does provide formal legal advice; also we are specialist recovery consultants. Our role is to manage the logistical, investigative, and coordination efforts to locate and recover your child. And, through our network, in the abducted-to country, if required, we work in tandem with a legal team, prosecutors and so on.

Sometimes. Legal proceedings are often( but certainly not always ) a core component of an international abduction case, whether under the Hague Convention or local custody laws. Our team will handle, if required, the legal petition. The IECC also focuses on the practical execution of the recovery plan, liaison with foreign agents, and ensuring the child's safe return, creating a powerful two-pronged approach.

Our process follows key stages:
1) Intake & Assessment:
---we analyze your case and plan

2) Investigation & Location:
---confirming the child's whereabouts and situation

3) Strategy Development:
---crafting a legally sound recovery plan

4) Coordination & Execution:
---working with on-ground teams and authorities

5) Secure Return & Reintegration:
---physically returning the child and connecting you with support services

We operate through a vetted global network of licensed professionals, including investigators, former law enforcement, and security specialists.

These local experts understand the regional legal and cultural landscape.

They act as our liaisons, gathering intelligence, engaging local counsel, and facilitating communication with foreign authorities, always operating within the bounds of local law.

Absolutely. We facilitate cooperation between all relevant parties. We help ensure local police have the necessary documentation to act.

You are the central client and a crucial team member. Your roles include: providing continuous information, making timely legal and financial decisions as advised, maintaining emotional composure (especially during contact with the child), and being prepared to travel at short notice for reunification. We guide you through every step.

Yes. If the abducting parent has withheld the child's passport, we will guide you through the process of obtaining emergency travel documents from your government. Our local network can assist with navigating the foreign ministry or consular procedures in the destination country to secure these critical documents.

You will be assigned a dedicated case manager who is your single point of contact. We communicate via secure and encrypted methods. You will receive scheduled updates at least weekly, or more frequently during active phases. More importantly, your case manager is available to you for urgent questions and support whenever needed.

Yes. Client confidentiality is paramount. All case details are held in strict confidence. We use secure communication channels and data encryption. We will never disclose your information or your child’s details to any unauthorized party, and we operate with the discretion necessary for sensitive family matters.

Costs vary significantly based on case complexity, destination country, and required actions. We provide a clear fee structure after the initial assessment. Our services are privately funded by our clients.

There is no standard timeline. A straightforward case in a cooperative country may take 3-6 months. Complex cases can take longer. The time depends on the legal system, the abducting parent's tactics, and the specifics of location and documentation. We move with utmost urgency at every stage.

Common delays include: judicial backlogs in foreign courts, the abducting parent raising "grave risk" or child objection defenses, difficulties in locating the child, challenges in serving legal documents, and bureaucratic hurdles in obtaining travel documents. The IECC develops strategies to anticipate and mitigate these delays.

This is a common and challenging scenario. The abducting parent may argue the child is now habitually resident there. It makes a strong legal strategy and evidence of the child's roots in your home country even more critical. Our local network is essential in these cases to navigate the heightened biases and present a compelling case for return.

Yes. While Hague, non-Hague and non-recognition countries are most challenging, recovery is still possible. We shift strategy to focus on local legal remedies, diplomatic channels, and persuasive negotiation. Our expertise lies in finding the viable path forward where pure legal avenues are limited.

We prepare for this common tactic. We will guide you in gathering evidence to refute the allegations, which may involve character references, psychological evaluations, or home study reports. Our focus remains on demonstrating that the core issue is the wrongful removal/retention of the child.

The child's welfare is our primary operational concern. We plan recoveries to minimize trauma, often involving child-trained professionals and psychologists. Reunification is handled sensitively. We also provide referrals to post-reunification therapeutic services for both child and parent to heal from the ordeal.

Yes, we offer preventive consultation and risk assessment. If you fear an imminent abduction, we can advise on preventive measures such as court orders (passport surrender, travel restrictions), flagging passports with authorities, and implementing child pickup alerts. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and we are here to help secure your child proactively.

Important!

We strongly discourage taking matters into your own hands. The measures could be illegal and may delay your child’s return. Attempts to re-abduct your child(ren) violently from any country may:

  • Endanger you, your child(ren), and others;
  • Prejudice any future judicial efforts you might wish to make in the abducted-to state;
  • Even result in arrest and imprisonment for many years of you and your accomplices.

There is no guarantee that the chain of violent abductions would end with the one committed by you. A parent who has violently re-abducted a child may be forced to live in permanent fear, constantly concealing their whereabouts.

If you are contemplating such desperate measures, consider the emotional trauma inflicted on a child who is a victim of violent abduction and violent re-abduction. We discourage such actions not only because they are illegal, but also because of possible psychological harm to the child.

We do not use illegal methods; we intervene in another way. Our method of work is strategically un-orthodox, yet fully legal and safe, with the assistance of our strong global network. Your case needs to be continuously coached, monitored, and pushed forward by our organization.
